Virtual 50K

Dear runners, greetings from the frozen trails. We hope you are well and finding ways to get in some miles despite the cycle of ice, mud, ice, repeat. We are excited to announce, the HAT Run has coordinated with Maryland DNR to offer a FREE "virtual" alternative to this year's race. It's really one better though because you get to run on the Susquehanna State Park course.  Beginning Saturday, March 20th and through Sunday, March 28th, the HAT course will be marked with our classic yellow pie plates and flags. 2021 Live Event Canceled, Virtual Option Under Review

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources informed us that HAT Run 2021 must be canceled. They determined the safety concerns were too great to permit the event to be held this March. We know how disappointing this is for you, because it is for us, too. We’ve put in months of planning and you’ve been putting in the training miles with anticipation that we could have safely held the event on Saturday the 20th of March. That said, we understand and support the DNR’s decision. While we know it won’t be the same to gather together at Susquehanna State Park and head off through the snowy, rainy, or muddy (who knows?!) starting field, we are currently pursuing alternatives for a "virtual" event.  Specifics of how this might materialize are yet…

January 2021 Update

Dear HAT Run, We hope your new year is off to a great start. Planning for the 2021 race continues. Our COVID-19 plan is in with the state, and as soon as we receive approval, we’ll share the complete details with you.  It remains too early to know what March 20th will look like, but we have proposed a conditions-based plan that includes multiple tiers. We’re planning for the most restrictive of conditions, including that we may still have to cancel the event. COVID-19 predictive models allow for approximately a 4-week forecast, and we will set the final field 2 weeks out.  The most aggressive of our control strategies includes 3 separate packet pickup times on Saturday morning and extended hours on Friday.
